Good Company

My goal with this post is not to pick your friends or tell you who to hang out with. I don't want to live your life for you. I just want to give you my opinions on friends, good company, and bad company. If you're reading this post you probably want to hear my opinion anyway. Let's begin!

1 Corinthians 15:33 states, "Do not be deceived: Bad company ruins good morals". This verse really opened my eyes. It's amazing how the group of people you hang out with impacts you as a person. Who you surround yourself with is what you turn into. It doesn't matter how strong your morals or your character is, being in bad places with bad people can make any person fall.

I've really been blessed with some great friends. I've had certain friends who have really helped me turn my life around. I think what defines a good friend is someone who supports you in your bad times just as much as the good.

My closet friends are the people that care more about others than themselves.

Your "close" or your "best friends" will support you with whatever you decide to do with your life. They should also be the people that confront you when you're falling. Your friends really define you. They'll help you get through anything, but be careful to choose them wisely.

If you can't be yourself around your "friends" maybe you aren't so close after all. I've dropped a lot of friendships but added even more. If your friends don't accept you for what you believe, how you look, how you smell, etc maybe it's time to branch out and find some new people.

Even though in the Bible it states that "bad company ruins good morals" I don't think we should ignore the bad company.

If we don't go after the bad company who will? The bad company needs you. They have questions. They're just waiting for someone to reach out to them. They'll do anything for someone to genuinely care about them.

Jesus went after the bad company. He went after the outcasts, sinners, tax collectors, drunkards, murders, prostitutes, poor in spirit, and more. If Jesus did that, we're called to do it to. If you believe in Jesus you have to act like Jesus. It's part of the gig.

I wrote a post similar to this post about a month ago. It's called "Benchwarmer" and I will put that link in the description below.

For that bad company, your life is the only Bible they've ever seen. How would bad company ever see Christ in you if your life is everything but him?

Whether you see it or not we're all disciples. If you're not living for Jesus what's the point of living?

Matthew 28:19-20 states, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Go after the bad company. They need you, but more importantly they need Jesus.
