Where I'm At

It's been over two months...Yes, two months since I've released a new post. A lot has changed over the past two months. I've been extremely busy, but I'm also learning to balance busyness with rest. I've been resting in books, devotions, dreaming, family, and friendships. A lot has happened since April 26 (my last post)—I'm going to give the keys and let you in.

April 27th was my 18th birthday and I also got baptized at my local church. To start off adulthood, by being welcomed into Jesus's kingdom is something that I won't forget anytime soon. I'm extremely blessed to have the family and church family that I have. Words can't really describe the feeling of being baptized. It feels like you're starting a new life. You feel free: free of guilt, free of bitterness, free of anger, free of your past, free of hurt, and most importantly free of yourself. The apostle Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."

May 3rd I celebrated my senior prom. It was so nice catching up with a lot of old classmates and people that I hadn't seen since I blew out my shoulder earlier that fall. My graduating class only had 36 people in it. I'm so thankful for all the friendships I made at Cleveland. I wouldn't trade my small school for the world. Part of my heart will always be in Cleveland.

The very next day (May 4) I preached a message at my youth group. It's always a blessing to be able to go to youth group weekly, but to have an opportunity to speak was pretty awesome. I want to thank everyone who has poured into me over the years. You all know who you are. Speaking in front of a bunch of other people would've never been possible without you—the blog probably wouldn't exist either. I also want to thank Mark and Amy Miltimore for the opportunity as well. The way you guys love and serve people blows me away. I'm thankful for the hearts that you have for Hillside Church—especially the youth. Last but not least I want to thank the youth group. You guys aren't just friends, but brothers and sisters. We're a family. We've been through so much as a unit, but the fact that we continue to come out stronger just shows how incredible everyone is. Thanks for always being there for me.

May 12th was my last PSEO day. Going to South Central and getting a year of college done for free was a huge blessing. It was so nice to kinda have a "practice" year of college to prepare me for the real thing.

May 16th I accepted a job with MnDOT (Minnesota Department of Transportation) for their Mankato Bridge Maintenance crew. I love the job. We do a little bit of everything. Some days we travel around in boats on the rivers in Southern Minnesota removing logs, while other days we are repairing bridges and bridge decks. I'm getting a whole new education with MnDOT and the guys constantly tell me I'm going to be the smartest preacher in the world. Hopefully they can come check out a service someday. I enjoy working with all of them—we have fun while we work—which makes work fun. If everything works out, hopefully I can have the job throughout the summer till I graduate from college.

May 30th I graduated from high school. I can't believe it happened either.

I obviously didn't share everything with you guys, but I wanted to share a few bits and pieces with you since I haven't shared anything for two months. My fingers are starting to hurt so I'll wrap this up.

Currently, all my time has been dedicated to MnDOT. If I'm not at work more than likely I'm adventuring, longboarding, donating plasma, spending time with family and friends, writing thank yous, preparing for college, messing around on my new Iphone, reading, or dreaming.

I haven't forgotten about the blog. I plan on getting back into blogging pretty steadily. I have a lot of stuff that I can't wait to release to you guys. Thanks for being patient with me.
