Picked Off

As many of you know, Richard Sherman has received a lot of grieve for his post game interview against the 49ers. Here is the link right here- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkTq__jd4I4.

At first I was shocked. I didn't know what to think or how to view the situation. I instantly went to Twitter after the whole ordeal. I tweeted "The interview was honestly the most selfish, scary, and most awkward interview I have ever seen." I literally thought he was going to jump out of the screen and light me up. Poor Erin Andrews looked scared out of her mind.

The next day I woke up and regretted the tweet I tweeted the night before. I don't think Richard Sherman was trying to be arrogant—I think he got caught up in the moment. He made the play of the game— if the not the play of the year for the Seahawks. I loved the emotion he showed during the interview. So many interviews are so boring and lack passion. Do I think he could have worded the situation better? Absolutely. Do I think he should have acknowledged his teammates? You bet.

I didn't like how ESPN and other networks blew the whole situation out of proportion. There has hardly been any coverage on the Super Bowl, it's all been focused on Richard Sherman. I'm going to give you some reasons why you shouldn't judge Richard Sherman.

1) He isn't perfect. You're not perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. He got caught up in the moment. Let it go. The Super Bowl is between the best offense and defense in the NFL. It's a match made in heaven. As Terrell Owens would say—get your popcorn ready.

2) He is smarter than you. He graduated from Stanford University. Guess what he majored in? Communications. He also has went back and began the program to get his masters. By no means is he a "thug."

3) He spends time giving back to his community. Sherman is from Compton. For anybody that doesn't know about Compton, it's one of the most rundown cities in the US. He goes back and serves in his community. How many of us actively serve in our community?

4) He hasn't got caught doing anything wrong off the field. Professional athletes are always getting caught doing moronic things off the field. Athletes are constantly going out clubbing, drinking, driving recklessly, you name it—its been done. Sherman has never had off the field issues.

The thug comments, racism, and unfair judgement need to stop. Sit back, eat wings, spend time with family, watch the game, and be thankful that you don't have to be hit by Richard Sermon next Sunday.
