I'm not perfect, and to be honest you're probably not either. I never want to spend my life trying to paint a perfect picture for everyone. First, I'm not a good artist. Second, perfection sucks. When we expect perfection out of ourselves and the people around us—we're pretty much strapping explosives to them and ourselves. It's only a matter of time before we blow-up. I feel like in a way we Instagram our lives. We crop out all the bad/ugly and we edit/exaggerate all the good/beautiful. The bad/ugly is just as powerful as the good/beautiful.

I've learned over time that God is ultimately in control. He uses my doubts, fears, failures, and past to shape me into who he's created me to be. He's doing the same thing through you as well. Whenever I try to do things my way it usually falls apart. God's way is always better. Let God be the artist in your life. I've learned that I'm not artist—I'm just the canvas he's painting.

Sometimes I wrestle with doubt, fear, failure, my past, and expectations. I feel like as people we can let these come into our lives and control us. When we allow this to happen we spend so much time and energy fighting all these things and they just wear us down. Four words I tell myself whenever I get consumed by whatever life throws at me is "ya know, you're alright."

The chances are you probably have a lot of doubts. You doubt people, but you also doubt yourself. Stop it. Don't let it consume you. You're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.

Fear and failure destroy dreams and people. Maybe you've always wanted to do something, but you're afraid of being laughed at or made fun. Why do we let other people control our lives and dreams so much? If people don't understand your goals and dreams don't be discouraged. It's your dream—they shouldn't be able to understand it. We've all failed many times. I can't tell you how many times I've failed at something. If I got a dollar for every time I failed at something I'd be a millionaire. You're probably in the same boat too. Just because you failed once doesn't mean you'll fail again. Never be afraid of failure. Jon Acuff once said, "Being afraid isn't failure. Staying afraid is."

More than anything—just be yourself. It's actually a lot of fun. Fear will come your way, you'll fail daily, and every once in a while your past might come up. It happens to everybody, but how you respond to it defines you. We can choose to let fear and failure control us or we can control them. But at the end of the day remember—ya know, you're alright.
